This year’s Utah Valley National Day of Prayer event will be held on Thursday May 7th at 7pm in the Provo Community Congregational United Church of Christ at 175 N University Ave in Provo. Gary R. Herbert, Utah’s 17th Governor, and long-time advocate of higher education and leadership development in Utah and his wife, Jeanette Herbert, an active member and honored leader of Utah’s business, education and leadership communities, will be our key-note speakers. Having proven their great love for the people of our state, through personal sacrifice and dedicated service, they will shared with us personal experiences with faith and prayer and invite all, regardless of culture, faith or background, to turn to God when seeking help, solace or guidance. The Utah Valley Interfaith Choir, and the Provost Children’s Choir will reminded us of God’s promised blessings. And prayers offered by local church and civic leaders, will lift our hearts and help us remember our God. We invite all members of our community to join us for an evening of thoughtful celebration. You will not want to miss it.
What is the National Day of Prayer?
All through history, America has turned to God in times of conflict and in peace. The National Day of Prayer established by law in 1952 is observed each year in May. People across our nation gather together in over 60,000 local community events to be reminded of the importance of God’s hand in America and remember the great opportunity we still have in our nation to come before God publicly and privately. Our local Utah County celebration works to bring people of all faiths and convictions together and unite in a spirit of gratitude. We want all to recognize the blessings we have received from God and the value of prayer in obtaining help with the problems we face from day to day. This year’s them is Pour out to the God of Hope and be filled. We hope each of you, as an important part of our community, will join us in this not to be forgotten celebration of hope and gratitude.
