Colonial Heritage Fest

The Colonial Heritage Festival is the largest living-history celebration of our nation’s founding west of the original 13 colonies; every member of your family will find something to love. Little ones can dip candles, grind wheat, carry water, and drill alongside the children’s militia. Older kids can set type on a working printing press, roll musket cartridges with the Continental Army, and sign the Declaration of Independence. Parents can wander among working artisans — blacksmiths, coopers, silversmiths, weavers, printers, and chocolate makers — or take afternoon tea with Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, and John Adams themselves. Grandparents will treasure quiet discussions with the men and women of 1776 who set aside their differences and united under the shared belief that human beings are capable of governing themselves.

The Colonial Heritage Festival offers something for every member of the family. Visit the village apothecary shop, blacksmith, cooper, broom maker, gunsmith, spoon maker, potter, various fiber artisans, chandler, baker, Isaiah Thomas Print Shop, frontier life, chocolate making, school & much, much more. Q&A as well as audience participation programs are sure to educate and entertain . Children and families will be able to learn and play colonial games as well as hone their skills in the daily chores of the period. Military enthusiasts can visit the gun displays, experience the cannon firing on the green and watch military demonstrations from the Continental & His Majesty’s Forces. Join the Culper Spy Ring & help get messages to the key players in the battle, but be careful, or you could end up in the pillory.
