Glen S. Hopkinson is an accomplished American artist renowned for his historically rich and epic landscapes capturing the spirit of the American West. Glen was born in 1946 and raised in northern Wyoming where Glen’s father taught art at the local high school. Some of Glen’s earliest memories are of spending time in his father’s studio, experimenting with old brushes and watercolors. Under his father’s guidance, Glen began a more serious study of art during high school, and attended Brigham Young University, where he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. After settling in Cody, Wyoming with his wife and young children, he embarked on a professional art career that has spanned over 54 years.
Drawing inspiration from history, culture, and landscapes, Hopkinson’s paintings often depict pioneer life, Native American heritage, and the rugged beauty of frontier settings. His distinctive style blends realism with storytelling, breathing life into pivotal moments from early Latter-day Saint history and everyday scenes. Glen’s paintings are held in the permanent collections of the Church History Museum, Wyoming Historical Society Museum, the Montana Historical Society Museum, the Whitney Museum of Western Art in Cody, and numerous corporate and private collections around the world. His art has been widely featured in magazines, books, and reproductions. Glen has a studio at Hopkinson Art Gallery in Provo, Utah, and currently resides in Byron, Wyoming, where he paints in his studio on main street.
